Introduction to Karate

In this course, you will learn the foundations of karate which is a unique martial art in Japan. The course will start with stretching and physical exercises to enable you to use your body more flexibly and effectively. Then you will practice kihon (basics) such as stances, punches, kicks and blocks to learn the correct body form and breathing which are essential for more advanced training such as kata (forms), and kumite (sparring). Japanese martial arts’ training focuses on starting with a bow and ending with a bow. You will also learn the correct spirit and attitude during the training. This instructor will guide you to accomplish these Karate fundamentals in an interesting and fun way.

Teacher: Mr. Ryo Wakabayshi

A world and national Karate champion, Ryo Wakabayashi will teach a basic Karate class in English. He has been dedicating himself to karate training for 13 years. He won the 1st place in the All-Japan championship in 2013. He was awarded the 3rd place at the world championship held in Sofia, Bulgaria and participated in international karate competitions held in Indonesia, Russia, Denmark and Bulgaria. He has also taught students of various levels and generations. He is a graduate of Lakeland University Japan and also a successful stand-up comedian.
